Excess insurance for car club members

According to iCarhireinsurance.com Car Club Members can save almost £130 on their excess insurance.

Car Clubs are springing up all over the UK and whilst most offer fully comprehensive insurance they also come with an excess of up to £1,000. Car club excess insurance is available to reduce this, but many Car Clubs charge around £14.95 a month or £149* a year for their Excess Insurance and most exclude cover for damage to the windows and tyres.

Car Club members could save £129 a year with ‘Car Club Excess Protection’ from iCarhireinsurance.com. This new policy has been created especially for Car Club members and offers complete peace of mind for just £19.99 a year, when purchased with any iCarhireinsurance annual Car Hire Insurance Product, and all parts of the car are covered.

Compared with Streetcar's annual policy (£149), this is a saving of almost £130. There is still a saving of £89, when the price of iCarhireinsurances’ lowest priced annual car hire policy, the Excess Europe (£39.99), is included.

This policy can be taken abroad and used with any car rental agreement while on holiday or business. You can't do that with any car club product because all you are paying for is use of their vehicle. iCarhire policies gives you the protection and peace of mind knowing you will have nothing to pay for any damage to your car club or rental vehicle.

**Prices on 21st January 2010
*** The iCarhireinsurance.com price of £59.98 is the addition of our Annual Excess Europe Policy (£39.99) with the Car Club Excess Protection Upgrade (£19.99). All taxes included.

Ernesto Suarez, CEO, www.iCarhireinsurance.com, said “Car Clubs can save drivers a lot of money, but many drivers don’t realise they are liable for damage to the car, even if it is not their fault. A small scratch to the roof or a chip to their windscreen and those savings quickly disappear.

“Many of our customers hire cars in the UK and abroad and are also car club members, so it made sense to create an extension that gives them complete peace of mind and saves them money.”

Car hire excess insurance providers continue to multiply

The number of car hire excess insurance providers is increasing by the month. On March 24th 2010 on this blog there were 27, today on the 27th March there are 30.

The original report on the blog "Car hire excess insurance providers" can be seen by following the link below.
http://carhireexcessinsurance.blogspot.com/2010/03/car-hire-excess-insurance-providers.html I had researched insurance websites offering car hire excess insurance. The number was 27 individual insurance providers with websites that I could find on the world wide web. I did not include the insurance4carrental.com advertising service.
Just over a month later I have researched again and found another 3 providers. That means there are at least 30 companies now offering this type of product.

It will soon be as congested as the Travel insurance business. The idea is great to take out car hire excess insurance, but are you really spoilt for choice. Some of the 30 listed are part of the same company (original provider in the market insurance4carhire.com) others use the underwriter that insurance4carhire.com used to have before they became part of Towergate a couple of years ago.

So far most insurance providers appear to come from the UK and Ireland, does anyone know of any others and we can add them to http://www.insurance4carrental.com/Car_Hire_excess_services.htm as it looks like this market is still continuing to grow. There is even a comparison site now, however that only compares around 7 providers.

Carrentals.co.uk Launches 'Raising the Standard' Campaign

22nd April 2010

Award-winning price comparator Carrentals.co.uk has launched a new campaign - 'Raising the Standard' - to help consumers identify the best available and highest quality services for their travel requirements.

Raising the Standard has been created to campaign for fairer and more honest services in the travel industry, with Carrentals.co.uk looking to help consumers avoid paying over the odds and to prevent travellers being faced with unnecessary additional charges or restrictions.

The new Raising the Standard campaign, which can be found in the new car hire forums, consists of a forum, blog and selection of downloadable advice papers, all of which are aimed at helping the public overcome any travel problems they may be worried about, with these new resources designed to help make sure consumers are equipped with a depth of knowledge on the different options available to them when travelling - topics covered include everything from car hire to flights, accommodation to holiday health, and travel insurance to holiday extras.

The forum provides travellers with a place to raise issues or problems they have faced in any part of their holiday and Carrentals.co.uk will be inviting a number of travel industry experts to offer their comments to the forum to help answer customer queries and respond to any complaints that may be raised.

Gareth Robinson, managing director of Carrentals.co.uk, says: "It has always been our aim to provide customers with a website that offers the best available deals, with the price comparison model ensuring that we are able to offer a great range of choice at the most competitive prices. However, we realise that car hire is just one part of a holiday and therefore wanted to extend the scope of our website to offer travellers an interactive resource where they can raise any travel concerns they may have.

"There are a lot of fantastic travel offers available these days, but in order to make the most of these, consumers need to be travel-savvy and not get caught out by hidden charges or restrictions in the small print - factors that we hope this campaign will, over time, help eliminate. Raising the Standard is aimed at offering travellers an opportunity to ask questions or raise any concerns they may have to provide them with sound advice and information on how to find the deals that are right for them."

Carrentals.co.uk will be partnering with a number of different travel industry experts, who will be offering their advice and comment throughout the campaign, with companies such as Questor Insurance, Zintech, Fly.co.uk and Self Catering Breaks all looking to contribute to issues highlighted by the Raising the Standard campaign.

Andrew Lawrence of Questor Insurance says: "There is so much information available to travellers these days, but this can sometimes be a bit overwhelming and it can be difficult working out which information is officially accurate. The Raising the Standard forum offers a central place for consumers to visit and gain access to a host of useful information, as well as being able to receive responses to personal problems.

"We know just how many issues people face when looking into travel insurance and are looking forward to helping travellers find out more about the choices available to them to make sure they understand which policies are best suited to their individual requirements."

Anyone can register as a member of the Raising the Standard forum, with all posts closely monitored and Carrentals.co.uk looking to provide prompt and helpful responses to all consumer queries.

Carrentals.co.uk compares car hire deals from up to 50 rental companies, including Alamo, Budget, easyCar, Holiday Autos and Sixt, in over 9,000 locations worldwide.

Carrentals.co.uk was launched in February 2003 and grew to become one of the UK's leading online car hire companies by 2006.In 2007 the company re-launched its site to create the first major online price comparator in the travel industry. Using the latest technology the Carrentals.co.uk site now searches up to 50 different car hire websites, providing an impartial comparison of the best prices available in over 9,000 locations.

Websites searched include Alamo, Budget, easyCar, Ebookers, Hertz, Holiday Autos, Opodo, Sixt and Thrifty, with the Carrentals.co.uk site quickly comparing prices and allowing customers to refine their search by car type.

The Carrentals.co.uk site also features over 5,000 pages of travel information in a mini-guide format. In 2008 Carrentals.co.uk was voted Best Car Hire Website in the Travolution Awards.

Insurance4carrental.com site is growing fast

In February 2009 www.insurance4carrental.com went live. It was just a one page introduction site to point people who were looking for car hire excess insurance to providers such as insurance4carhire.com, dailyexcess.com and Questor insurance who were advertising on jml insurance sites.

Now in April 2010 it has nearly sixty pages of car hire and van hire excess insurance advertisements , articles and information. The new www.insurance4vanrental.com site is also part of this growth and additional advertisers have recently beem added - insuremyvan.com, icarhireinsurance.com and essential travel car hire insurance.

On the subject of car hire, as jml Property Services have been holiday autos agents

(http://www.holidayautos.co.uk/cgi-bin/liveweb.sh/QSearch.w?ctryref=GBR&lang=EN&aff=xjeffreymilnerltd )for a number of years, it has made sense to add information supplied by that very well know car hire broker or now also have van and motor homes that can be arranged through their site.

More and more people are taking fly drive holidays, whether visiting somewhere new or their holiday home and consequently make sure that they have car hire excess insurance. With some providers charging from as little as £1.94 per day, this is usually a lot less than you would pay the car hire company.

A great way to save money if you regularly rent a car is to take out an annual policy. Personally I take out the insurance4carhire.com ( http://www.insurance4carhire.com/index.asp?linkfrom=4&curID=1&langID=1&refID=188 ) "Europe Family and Partners" annual policy. It is great value at £79 per year and covers 2 family members.

Looks like it won't be too long before the insurance4carrental.com site is approaching 70 pages.

iCarhireinsurance.com in The Guardian and Independent on Sunday

icarhireinsurance got media attention in the 20th March edition of The Guardian

with an article by Miles Brignall on How to cut excess costs.

The following week on the 28th March,2010, this new car hire excess insurance service had an article by Chiara Cavaglieri in The Independent on Sunday. The article was entitled "When hiring a car, stop before you pay the excess cover The price you pay for insurance at the rental desk is unlikely to be a bargain, warns Chiara Cavaglieri"

There was price comparisons with "Dailyexcess.com, for example, charges £4.75 a day for worldwide cover, while iCarhireinsurance offers excess policies for Europe from £2.99. Compared to the £9.99 per day that rental companies can charge, the potential savings are substantial. As well as being more expensive, not all hire firms will cover damage to windows, tyres or undercarriages, which many standalone providers cover as standard."

There is more and more competion in this market and insurance4carrental.com currently has five major providers advertising. Two of them are part of the same company, but the site has recently compiled a page showing all the providers in the market and this can be found at: http://www.insurance4carrental.com/Car_Hire_excess_services.htm

Easter 2010: insurance4vanrental.com are finding there are a lot of people buying van hire excess insurance at the moment. It must be a busy time for collecting bargains on the final days of Easter holiday weekend sales, getting products from the local garden and DIY centres and clearing away the winter rubbish.
Whatever the weather you do need to make sure that the van you rent is covered by the appropriate insurance.

There is a new page recently added to the combined insurance4vanrental.com / insurance4carrental.com site. why buying van rental insurance is important can be found at http://www.insurance4carrental.com/Why_Buying_Van_rental_Insurance_is_important.htm and there is another page well worth visiting entitled useful tips when you rent a van with information supplied by holiday autos http://www.holidayautos.co.uk/cgi-bin/liveweb.sh/QSearch.w?ctryref=GBR&lang=EN&aff=xjeffreymilnerltd

jml Property Services who run the insurance4vanrental.com / insurance4carrental.com site are not insurance providers, but purely an advertising service for car hire excess insurance and van hire excess insurance company providers. You therefore make your arrangements direct with those companies advertising on the site. jml Property Services are holiday autos agents, but again the van hire or car hire booking is made via holiday autos.
